Re: oil injection removal kit for '94 Johnson 50hp
For anyone out there still interested, I just came back from the 1st run after removing the VRO oil injection from a 1990 40 hp Johnson. The task was quite simple. Anyone wanting to know why I removed the VRO instead of replacing it, well, at $275 for the VRO it turns out to be about 1/5th the value of the motor as appossed to a $50 fuel pump and about an hour of labor. If you have any questions on how to do this, email me @
rbbrawner@yahoo.com. Some suggestions for using 2 cycle premix afterwards, I would highly recommend Mobil 1 synthetic 2 cycle. Since this was a retrofit I mixed pretty heavy and was amazed at how little it smoked and how good it ran (yes it was getting oil).
I recieved an email requesting some help on removing a VRO. I've taken some pictures and uploaded to help anyone who is interested. This has been up and running for 4 years but just recently I've noticed some fuel line deterioration and anyone performing this work should make sure you use ethanol approved fuel lines since you can't hardly buy gas without it anymore.
