I have a 1994 150 Black Max SN # OD285445. The motor sat for 5yrs and I got it going last year.Went through the steps in the service manual. The motor ran for a few minutes then the oil alarm went off went though all the troubleshooting in the manual and finally removed the oil pump and using the starter rope rotated the motor I didn't see any rotation on the bearing assembly, I believe driven gear is sheared. Do you have to take the motor down to the crankshaft to replace the driven gear or can you replace it with out taking the motor apart ? The manual has a lot about replacing the gear on the crankshaft but not the driven gear. Also is there anyway to find out if the driven gear is plastic or not as I heard some are .

Re: Oil injection repair

Ussally thats not the one that goes bad it's a metal gear, you should be able to pull it gear and bushing out the front.
