Re: Oil Injection Systems

There are two containers on the boast...

One is the reserve tank (the one you keep filling) and I don't think there's a reason you'd be wondering about it "running out"...

The other tank or "Main" tank mounted on your power head...

The oil is fed via gravity down to the metering pump that is driven by a shaft in the power head. If the shaft isn't moving, the oil isn't being pumped.

Make sense?

Re: Oil Injection Systems

without a model number we simply CANNOT help as there have been various changes to the control circuits on the V configuration motors since they were imported in 1984.
if its an inline motor there have been at least 3 pump changes since 84.
in other words post a model number and try to clran up the description.

They are pumps, the amount based on the rpm of the motor, the oil is fed to the motor gradually, not just open or closed.

Re: Oil Injection Systems

there are check valves in the pump or line depending on WHAT yamaha and WHAT year we are disscussing.
other than that we cannot say more.
WE simply dont know what motor we are disscusssing as I am behind a monitor I cannot see your engine.

Re: Oil Injection Systems

the original pump was a kien unit the replacement pump is a mikuni. the kien check valves are built into the pump the mikuni uses inline check valves.
the kien pumps have 6 outlet nipples pointing up the mikuni has 6 outlet nipples, 3 horizontal on both sides of the pump.
no fixing the kien you will need the mikuni pump kit as the kien was taken out of production in 1990.
