I have a 1994 150 Yamaha. The oil will not transfer from the tank to the oil reservoir on the engine. I have replaced the pump and checked the wiring. When I push the switch on the engine the oil also won't fill. What part calls for the oil to fill? What am I missing? Could it be the plunger/siren part that sits on the engine reservoir?

check where the oil tank mounts to the bracket sometimes the oil line gets pinched between the bracket and tank and wont be able to transfer oil to the oil reseervoir on the engine....

Re: Oil Injection

Number one problem here is the screen in bottom of tank gets plugged with slime from water accumulation from humidity/condensation in tank....be careful of grommet in tank falling into oil, will go to bottom and plug off oil flow. Very smart move to clean out the oil tank all the way.

Don't forget that you have two floats that operates just like the float in your toilet--but they have wires attached.

Oil gets low in the little tank, and the float signals the big tank to pump oil up. It fills up--and the float tells the pump in the big tank to cut off. Your float in the big tank tells the tachometer that it's too low of oil, and the engine goes into fail safe mode.

They're the same float--interchangable for testing.

You also have a oil injection module--the thing with the switch. Essentially the oil injection is a mechanical system, except the module tells the pumps to operate (with input from the floats.)

I had oil overflowing from time to time from my little tank down plastic tubing into my carbs. The big tank would overfill the little tank. It would foul the plugs and throw out a bunch of blue smoke. I unhooked the big tank and manually filled the little tank. Problem was a bad module.
