Over the course of the summer I started noticing a small amount of oil in my bilge. Not even enough to register on my dip stick for the whole season but it does make the bilge messy. My engine is a 1999 volvo Penta 5.0 gi PWTR. Upon investigation I noticed that it appears to be comming from between the rectangular brass part where the dipstick tube enters and the oil pan. It is not comming from where the tube enters the brass part or the bolt at the bottom of the brass part. Is there anyone who can tell me how this brass rectangular part (if you know its name please inform me) is attached to the oil pan? Can it be removed after the dip stick tube is removed, maybe by unscrewing it? There does seem to be some corrosion between the brass part and oil pan. Below is a photo showing the setup. If I can remove the part is there any gasket material I can add to stop the drip? Thank you for any suggestions which will help me make this repair.
