I have an outdrive oil leak coming from the starboard side of the lower part of the outdrive...from the weeping hole.

Started very small then after yesterdays run has become worse. I'm thinking its from the seal inbetween the upper and lower?

Anyone have a manual with breakdown and how to?

Is this the issue?

Sounds as simple as splitting the halves apart replacing the seal or ring and back together. Is it that simple that I can do?

ok, so i am stupid....i cant find in there how to remove the lower part of the outdrive...

how do i remove the lower part of the outdrive to replace what i believe is a messed up seal? the stink of it all is the impeller was replaced last fall before winterization (or so the PO told me and showed me the receipts). So this continues to lead me towards a seal missplaced (i have read that this seal can slip out of place when reinstalling the lower unit as a common mishap)

side quesiton, is this something that i am able to do? i am mechanical but have never done it. is there any "whoa's" that if i dont know how to do this i should have someone else do it?

how long of a job is it? (labor wise so i can get an assumption on what a marina will charge me)

Ok I'll bite, what other issues ya thinking?

So far you are only assuming where your leak is. You haven't located it, just wanting to fix what you think is the problem.
If you want to fix it properly, you need to remove the drive, drain the gear lube, then do a pressure test and actually locate the leak before you take everything apart.
