Oil Pressure Sender test?

i got another question for you experts here at iboats: I believe i have a faulty oil pressure sender. i get no reading on the gauge and the gauge is brand new (old gauge didnt get a reading either). i looked in the service manual and all i could find is how to check the resistance to verify the ACCURACY of the oil sender. would that test also tell me if its working? or should i just get a new one in there anyway and see what happens?

I have a Mercrusier 120. thanks for the help.

Ayuh,.... With the key in the "On" position,...
Remove the wire from the sender,..
Ground it out,...
The gauge should Peg high...
If it Does, confirm it's base is grounded, if so, replace the sender,.....

Do a quick test of the wiring first.
Disconnect the wire from the sender, with the ign. switch in the run position, touch the wire from the sender to ground. The gauge should peg to full. If not, you have a wiring problem.

Usually it's quite the opposite.... and within the same Minute many times....

I read somewhere that if you add Don's and Bondo's years of experience together, there's a comma involved.
