That's because yours are in excellent mechanical condition, Wayne (and stop bragging!:D). The minimum spec is, well, the minimum acceptable. Lower than that indicates a problem, possibly very major.

So if my math is right ??. That means 6psi at idle at 600 rpm !!!. :eek:

It's not usually linear like that. Not to mention that oil gauges aren't terribly accurate at such low levels.

Getting something at idle and 40ish off idle is ok.

What should it be on a mercruiser 5.7, at idle & on the gas?


For comparison/using stock dash gauge:

My 2003/150 hr 5.7 with either 20W-50 or a straight 30 weight at op temp:

@ idle/~550 rpm: 20-25 psi.

@ WOT: 65-70 psi

Thanks for all the replies, looks like the oil presure is ok. My last boat had a big block & the oil presure stayed at 40psi all the time.
