please bear with me this is my first time posting to this or any other site 2 things first my oil alarm goes off when i open it up over about 4200 rpm about 3/4 of full throttle otherwise it runs great i have opened up the oil tank to check the filter i didn't see any obvious clogs i dont know if there are any other filters such as inline also after a days outing i have oil leaking down the side of the motor on the mid section below the power head looks as though it could be comeing from the back side of the motor possible head gasket?i don't know much about outboard motors. the motor is an evenrude VRO 90 horse model#e90tlcdc serial#j1122137 thanks for any help or advice. 1 more thing i do alot of trolling at idle speed is this bad for the motor? possible cause of oil leak?

Re: oil problems

does your oil line have a primer bulb? is still hard when the alarm goes off if its not venting properly i think this would cause it the leak.To me seems like it must be coming from the line going to the VRO whereas by the time the oil gets to the head its mixed with the gas.if there is one of those wire ties that holds the oil line to the bottom of the vro i would remove and put a nice tight ratchet style clamp not a screw type those can cut the line. like an automotive fuel injector clamp. I replaced all those ties and now I no longer have an air oil leak

the alarm is a steady tone witch quits after i pump the primer ball untill it is hard again the oil is black but i use jonson/evinrude oil and it looks black also in the tank although the oil on the mid section seems a little thicker maybe from heat ?
