Oil Pump + Oil strainer tube = Not Possible

Is there a trick to getting the strainer tube pressed into the oil pump hole? Vice Grips, hammers, and what else?

I don't want to hurt anything, but what gives?

Using LARGE vise grips adjusted to stop at the crimp, but able to slide on the tube.Clean pump hole and pickup with Brake-Kleen, etc. apply Red-Loc-tite, line up tube and tap on vise grips untill seated.The correct tool is picture in ,manual 9, page3A-33

open end wrench that just slips over the tube, tap it in, Ilike to spot weld it to the pump. Arctec unichrome for stick or wire feed
