Oil seal carrier o-ring

I just removed the oil seal carrier from my alpha one Gen 2 because I was changing the impeller anyway. The carrier o-ring had perfect seal on it, is this common? The service manual just calls for a bit of 2-4-c.

Now once cleaned up the o-ring is in great shape, can it be re-used or should it be replaced? <--- that was me being cheap and impatient. I order new O-rings, seals and carrier.

To confirm, you're talking about the carrier under the pump housing? If memory serves me, there's two o-rings. The top smaller one rides on the shaft so that one gets grease. The big lower one I use Permatex Aviation sealer.

Yes, the carrier below the impeller. I was referring to the o-ring around the outside of the carrier. I know the inner oil seals get perfect seal or similar but the o-ring around the outside had perfect seal on it as well.

I ordered a new carrier, seal and o-ring. Now just wondering if it is common to use perfect seal around the o-ring.

The Permatex I referred to is an equivalent to Mercury's Perfect Seal, or at least close enough. So yes it's common to use the Perfect seal at this location.
