Oil slinger / crankcase seal?

'65 Evinrude 6 hp 6502. (You can see - the red ring - where it is broken into 3 pcs in the pic)

It looks like its supposed to be 2 pcs in my manual... but there is no reference to it... unless this is the "oil slinger"...

I think 3 is right out. It should split with the casing, another split would be a
crack.

Looks alright to me - it's part of the crankcase and block...

The slinger is below the red ring, and rotates with the shaft. If there are any loose pieces of broken red ring, pick them out, otherwise leave well enough alone. Not knowing the history of the motor, somebody may have been digging around in there trying to replace a non-existing seal, and broke it. No big deal though.

If the mtr runs alright and you don't get any oil on your points after running awhile, " leave a sleeping dog lie ".
