oil tank not running..

The exterior tank only runs when I hit manual switch. I drained oil level 1 1/2 inch below low level line but tank does not kick on. I checked the wires coming from the motor. 1 is hot and the ground does not ground unless I hit switch. Seems like instead of sending power to fill, it will connect the ground to fill. But it will not ground with key in on position or while running motor only when I hold manual switch. Is there a relay or fuse that I can check to get the tank to fill..

Re: oil tank not running..

here we go again.
no model number.
anything said may or may not be correct.
dunno if its a V4 with a control box,a V6 with a control box, a 2.6L V6 with the module built in the ECU or a 90-95 2.6L that uses the trim sender or a 3.1 or 3.3L that uses a slightly different control than the pre 95 2.6L V6.
without a model number its all a guess and they can get costly.

Rodbolt,
I found 1 answer to my problem from your post on another thread. I am not getting ground path from ecu. I dont know how to troubleshoot from there. Should I look into oil level sensor?
Thanks

Re: oil tank not running..

I think I answered your question on another thread but here goes again.
when the center arrow is flashing its due to the removal of a ground path on the black and black/red wires at the remote oil tank.
either a wire is broken, the remote tank is low or the remote tank switch is bad.
if the ECU "sees" low remote level it will not allow automatic oil transfer, ever.

Rodbolt,

remote oil tank is full. Ground path on black but none on black/red.Pulled level sensor and turned upside down but no ground path. Did the same on working tank and got ground path on black/red.. Bad remote tank switch.. Thanks for the knowledge!!! You should be getting paid for your post. I know you are saving alot of people alot of money...
