OIS2000 timing

Quick question guys,
on the adavance and retard tabs for the idle and WOT timing on the optical ignition, does moving the lever towards the + (plus ) adavance or retard the timing ? trying to speed the idle up very slighty

The + side increases the idle timing and the rpm. Be sure not to disturb the WOT timing link.

Don't you want to adjust the throttle cable to increase idle speed? Shouldn't the idle timing be synchronized with the throttle opening.

On the 60deg models there is no facilty to adjust idle speed apart from the ignition timing , you could adjust the cables to hold the throttle open a little but if the motor will not idle on the preset gaps in the butterflys there is probably something wrong else where. This model has the fast start which will adavance the igntion automatically when cold to increase the engine revs on start up untill it hits 1100 and then it will go back to normal .

Take a look at this, it fixes a lot of problems.
There is no clear photo in the service manual , this is correct.

Thanks for the info ,the levers are fine she was just about 100rpm to low, ive moved her one peg now and she is sweet .

JONESG: in the picture sequence....what is lost if the roller isnt contacting the arm as in the first picture?

that is how my motor is right now.

I just took it out for the first time sunday and my tach stopped working , so i could not check my rpms for WOT...but i buried the throttle control..it seemed to hit a solid stop even though it felt like the motor rpms could keep going easily.

I came home and checked the linkage and I was hitting home on the linkage!! for the roller that moves the carb linkage and the long vertical arm with the foot stop that hits the block...both to the end...but the top timing plate had lots to go..and that is what the roller on the arm in your linked page adjusts.

so my question is will i get more top end RPM'S if i adjust the roller to touch like the third picture?

It sets the point at which the ignition begins to adavnce when the throttle is increased , the symptons are normally bogging down or stalling when the throttle is applied as the ignition does not advance enough at first to give the required power . Not sue if it effecst WOT rpms as you said it will still hit the stop but just at a later stage , worth putting right though, your tach issue may be your rectifier there are some useful articles on here how to link out the rectifer to check you gauge and cabling .

and a timing light is the best way to set WOT ignition advance.
Make sure the throttle plates are horizontal and all in unison at WOT.
