Ok marine doctor, don't just dangle the bait in front om me,give me something to bite on. What do I need to look for.I am taking the boat out on the lake Sunday nite after work,is there anything that I can do to make sure of problem.Should I check spark on all 3 cylinders, and do you think that this sounds like a coil problem.

Misfiring could be the powerpack...bad plug..bad wire..bad airfuel mixture.

There is a whack of reasons why it might be seeming to fire erratically. Change the pack with another...you have 1 free one.

TMD

Marine Doctor, excuse me if I sound dense here, but what do you mean by replacing with another, you have 1 free one.I know that there is 2 packs,,can they be interchanged. Also, what would control the air fuel mixture at wot.I currently have champions in,but I am going back to the NGK buhw.

You have 3 cyl's..and 2 packs

1 of the packs is only driving 1 cyl. You can wire it different to use the other side if there is a problem with the packs.

TMD

Nope...if you pull the bracket off you will see that only 1 pack is wired for 2 cyl's while the other is only wired for 1.

TMD

I'm having simular problem with my CDI packs on an 1989 - 85 hp Force. The 2 CDI units you have on your should be the same as mine and located in the same place. I will call them left and right. The right one controls cylinders 1 & 2, orange wire for #1 & red wire for #2. The left one controls cylinder #3, the orange wire for #3. It is my guess that if there were a 4th cylnder the red wire would be used. But then again it would probley use a different stator and have another coil. Hope this helps ya. Later
