MB, when I mentioned the bearing cages, they are the ones on the piston rod big end, when you take the rod bolts off you will have needle bearings and the cage, on mine I found two cages had cracks on the outer part and one cage had the center spacer lying between two needle bearings. I am glad I checked them as the motor (1972 l6 140hp merc) would have failed. It is a good feeling when you find a problem before the possibly of damage. If you watch youtube under Buzz's Glastron you will hear the motor noise and that was what caused me to pull the motor apart. In Pa. winter is here and I want to get everything ready for spring as are seasons are short. Worst thing is fixing the boat when you should be out enjoying it. Buz
