I believe this is a 1955 Jupiter, but I am finding no references to the motor that it has in it, it is a 4 cyl motor with a mercrusier out drive and controls, the guy I purchased it from said he believes, but is not sure it is a Renault motor, I did hear it run, it has two carbs, with what looks like small books for air cleaners, the fuel fitting on the front carb leaks a bit when started up. It is a deep V hull, has a canvas top, windshield is in good shape with a small vent in the windshield. I have two pictures that he had on his ad..can anyone figure out anything from these two pictures?

Thanks.

The title only says Starcraft, the length is a 16 foot, and it has a new floor and transom in it..plus a kicker plate for a trolling motor, the out drive is white, as are the controls. large fuel tank in the bow, with a fuel filler on the topside of the hull.

I will make sure and copy the numbers down when I pick it up tommrrow, but the title did say 1955, of course with the way they do titles here in Montana, it could very well be a 65.

Thanks

Well after some deep searching on here and other websites, I really think someone in the Montana Title office has screwed up, I will be able to look at it some more in the evening on Friday, but I honestly think this is a 64-65 18 foot holiday, with the 110 HP merc. Which does not bother me in the least! I just knew it was in very good shape with a new top and top frame, the engine sounded great when he started it up and the floor was solid, it was replaced a couple of years ago and has been stored under cover until this spring, so perhaps, I may have just got a great buy for the money!

Ye Ha!

An up point after loosing my other boat over this last winter!!!! Due to heavy snow and a collapsed garage!

(Anyone want to buy a great running 40 big twin!) I know, no selling allowed!

:D

i don't think that Starcraft would have put a 4 cy renaullt engine in a 18 ft boat I had a 16 ft with a renault and all I did was replace head gaskets. What a pain. Problem was reveing it to high just to get it going. Parts will be very diff. to find. Look forward to photos.

Well I was just going by what their 1964 brochure was saying, which is they were the first to put a 110 hp inboard in a deep v hull, which included the Holiday 18 footer, I guess I will know more this evening.

Very interesting!

Ad says "40 hp inboard". Huh. A little Merc 110 IO would make a more sense though. From the photo it kinda has the lines of a 16 footer rather than an 18.

Look forward to hearing your report!:)

Welcome to the Starcraft fleet MT, that's a nice old rig there.

They did make the Jupiter with a 60hp I/O back in '69 I believe, kinda small but probably good on fuel.:)

If it's a 110hp Merc then you are in good shape, not sure a Renault would be worth messing with.

Good luck with the new rig!

Well we are on hold mode with the Starcraft and I am really bummed, on the way to work this morning, a nice young lady decided that her and my car had to meet and make friends, my Jeep is very much worse for wear due to their meeting of the metal, so we had to delay the purchase for a couple of weeks, until I figure this whole mess out! Crap, Crap and double Crap!

Man, the planets really didn't line up for you today! Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope things straighten out so you can pick up the SC. From the looks of it, I can't imagine it's a '55. Good luck with all.

Sorry about your Jeep but I think you dodged a bullet on that weird I/O. Plenty of other SC's in the sea, I'm sure you'll find a good one.

Well in the mean time, I picked up a really nice little Glasspar Sports Lido to play with after this mess, one of these years I will get to play in the tin buckets!
