Actually I know there is no zirk fitting on the upper steering head swivel bracket, only the bottom, which is my problem, how does the upper get grease? This is a 1997 30hp model ELO, serial # 0G465407 and I'm talking about the part that swivels when you turn the steering wheel. There is one grease fitting near the lower bushing where grease comes out when I put the grease gun to it but nothing is coming out at the top bushing. This is a used motor and I can tell there is grease that comes out at the upper bushing because there is old grease there. Do I just keep on squirting grease in at the lower end, making a big mess while waiting for it to come out the top or is there something I'm missing here?

That's pretty much it, Alan. I've had some luck with moving the motor from side-to-side while pumping the grease gun. But it can't be moved much to port before hitting the gun.

I guess if there isn't one at the top. you could always drill and install one. They are not that hard to install and are easily available at most auto part stores... Just an idea...
