 Since you can buy a new dryer for $600, this is really a non issue. Throw it away and buy a new one.

Sorry Heinz, only kidding, just got carried away after reading your dvd post. :p

I don't know about your dryer, but in several I have worked on, the drum rides on a couple of rubber wheels, which have a steel bushing inside. They are supported on a shaft. They wear and squeek. I have applied graphite to the shafts and they got quiet.

Typically, you start disassembly by removing the front panel, and keep going till you get to the parts you are after. Good Luck.

heinz- man, you're on a roll! fixing the whole house! before you even pull out any tools, pull the dryer away from the wall and vacuum/clean out the back/insides. i had the same problem about 6 months ago, and was surprised to find so much lint/dust/crap/socks. when i cleaned it up, the squeaking went away without touching any of the parts. good luck-

I went through the squeaking dryer thing last year, it squealed so bad I thought the world wast ending. Dogs were writhing in the street every time I turned that thing on. Dolphins were suffering. Bats could not fly properly...Anyway, on my dryer the drum had a center bearing in the back that dryed out. I lubed it, and the squealing stopped.

Paul, THe frigidaire dryer works without heat, it freeze dries the clothes. This is also how the Frigidaire range cooks food. :p

I've worked on a clothes dryer that dried by pouring water. See if you can figure that one out. :)

Hint: It was a Philco-Bendix.
Hint 2: It had no vent.

When you pull that drier away fron the wall, check to make sure you clean all of the lint out of the exhaust stack. That stuff has been known to get real hot and catch on fire. Also check the outlet and make sure it is free of lint and wasp nests. The cleaner the piping is the better your clothes and other stuff will dry. Faster drying=less money spent.

I have the same dryer, had the same problem. Jason is right, pull the top off, take the drum out and lube the bearing with chain lube. I used oil 1st time and it lasted afew weeks, chain lube, over a year now. I had to go thru the top because mine are stacked in a smaall closet, might be easier if you can get to the rear.
