Re: ok ordered new Ruger 10/22!!!

I have been avoiding the 12/22. I will not even look at one.

I am afraid I do not have the self control and I would go wild building it up...... stock, barrel, Volquartsen parts....... I doubt I would be able to stop. I just see a 10/22 as too much temptation for me!! Maybe in the future ;)

Good luck with it................. I am jealous!

10/22 is probably the best .22 not designed by John Browning ever.

I have a great weakness for Winchester 1896, 1906 and 62, and for my treasured Belgian Browning .22 auto.

Well, of course I am old fashioned. I have a license to be. :) I also never use a scope.

My Dad Gave me my 10/22 just about 40 years ago for Christmas, it is the best gun I have owned or currently own, I bet that gun has had about 100k rounds though it, it still sits by my front door waiting for rabbit duty..hmm, hmm good

no 10/22 here.
I picked up a 77/22 22LR about 25 years ago, love it.

Now I wish it was a 22 Hornet. Maybe its time to go shopping.

I have about $600 into my customized 10/22. Boyds Walnut Blaster T-Hole stock, Houge 20" fluted barrel, Power custom trigger kit, Barska 8x32x50AO mil-dot scope and a Black widow bolt buffer.

LOL I knew someone here would be "involved"....... I guess I will not mention my custom weapons (all with a purpose ;)) pistols, rifles and shotguns.

Nice buy. You won't be disappointed. I was not aware that Ruger offered different size stocks. Good to know for the future. Mine came with the basic birch wood stock. I recently upgraded to a Hogue overmolded synthetic stock. I haven't put them side to side, but the Hogue seems to have a slightly longer "length of pull" and a meatier fore end.

That's the beauty of the 10/22...if you don't like something or a part doesn't fit you, there's bound to be an aftermarket replacement part that suits you.

Re: ok ordered new Ruger 10/22!!!

Let me preface this with I am not recommending it, that said, the Ruger can really be fun with a few little modifications that ramps up the rate of fire! Of course unless you are a FFL holder, which I am, it is illegal, but it sure is fun!

Ironically me and my next door neighbor were talking about this today, it might be time to upgrade the Ruger!

You will really like the 10/22 ezbtr. I have one in stainless steel, and it is a tack driver. Some after market clips can be a real piece of junk, but the rifle itself is superb.
If you like 22 pistols, a Ruger Mark 2 in target version shoots as good as a rifle for me. But as far as my favorite 22, I would have to agree with JB that the Winchester 1906 is still my choice. I inherited my Grandpa's 1906 that he purchaced from Mongomery Ward catalog for $17.00 new.

This thread needs pix.

WARNING: For those that will not even look at one, exit thread now!:)

10/22 is pretty basic. Synthetic stock, stainless barrel.
Someone mentioned a Mark II. Here's the competition model, w/ competition wood grips, that I bought for the wife as a house warming gift!:D Put the scope on for her. Not too crazy about it. Added alot of weight. May take it off or put a smaller one on...... The Mark II's replaced the High Standards.

Keep your eyes closed!!

Looks like we need to get together WIMUSKY and do some practice.
I am not too crazy about my scopes either, but they work for now.

Correction: The Winchester 1906 is really a 1890 octagon barrel in 22WRF. I keep getting them mixed up.
