Yes, the flanged sleeve has a "flange" or wide part at the top to replace the aluminum part of the block that's busted. Very common, no big deal.

The flat-back 200 will not bolt up to the 235 adaptor. Well, it will but the exhaust will be closed off. Probably won't run too goo like that.

what does flat back mean? where can i get a flanged sleeve?

"Flat back" or bubble back" refers to the exhaust paltes. Look at your 200 and the 235 you'll see the difference.

Don't worry about getting the sleeve. It'll have to be installed by a machine shop and they will have it or get it.

both my engines have a bubble back the 175 i have here is flat oin the rear

ok i want to revisit this putting my 200HP 25" shaft motor on my boat that had a 235HP 20" shaft since i am just now getting the block machined and it wont be back in the water for some time. what i am considering is

a) take 200HP power head and bolt to 20" shaft housing.

b)take old motor off completely and bolt 25" shaft motor to the boat.

would this work out? which is better? pros/cons for each?
