Have my smart tabs ready to go on and I can't for the life of me find a tube of 3M 5200 locally! Walmart used to carry it but now they don't  (at least not in my area). They have an atwood product called fast-cure polyurethane. Seems like the same stuff just wanted to check. This is driving me crazy! LOL

I dont know...I had to drive 30 miles to get 4200 fast cure for mine. I wish they suggested it when i ordered the tabs, I would have definitely just had it come with them. can you find it online and compare the properties of the two?

So you used 4200 on yours huh? I'm thinking the attwood product is equivalent to 4200 but I'm not sure....

Took a quick look on attwoods website and couldn't look at the details of the product on account of an error or something :(. I'm thinking I'll go ahead and use it, its exact name is marine polyurethane sealant and adhesive, same as 3M stuff.

I'd hold out for 5200. It will be much easier than worrying about whether you did the right thing for the next several years. It doesn't pay to experiment with holes in the transom below the waterline.

Yep, 4200 is what will work. It is both a sealant and an adhesive. The WM brand should be white and not clear. It should make a real mess when you work with it! You do not want to be using silicone, it just does not hold up as well under water. The screws shipped with those tabs will only penetrate 3/8", but you don't want any water seeping into the transom...

i use OSI quad polyurethane caulk found at home depot and lowes many colors available and a similar make up to the marine caulks ya'll pay over 10 bucks a tube for. this stuff sells for 5 bucks a tube and i have used it for over 10 years on boats with great results! it does take a few days to cure. but never hardens never seperates and has great adhesion.
