Hi everyone, been away from boating for over a year due to a big move, but just about 2 weeks ago bought another boat, it isn't new but it is extremely new to me since I have never had a boat of this type or even this large. My boat is a 1977 Cobalt inboard with an outdrive. The issue I am having is I can get the trim to move but for some reason the whole lower unit will not move. This boat is a bit intimidating to me right now and I am afraid to push on the switches on the dashboard too much because I am not sure what they do. I tried to put the boat in the water this afternoon and that was when I found out that the whole outdrive or lower unit wouldn't go down. Is there a lock or something i am missing that will allow it to stay up so it don't drag on the ramp or road? As I said in the title, any help would be greatly appreciated.

First you need to answer Bond-o's ?'s.
I wouldn't be taking a boat to the water without knowing what is what on the dash. You should be making sure the motor starts, and everything is in working order, BEFORE you get it wet. The boat ramp isn't the place to find out your workings, and whats not working. I dont mean to beat-up on you, but to many times I'm the person waiting for people that think the boat ramp is for servicing there boat or figuring it out, and holding everyone up. I hope you get things in working order soon.
