Even though I'm new to boating (2nd season upcoming!) I did have a stupid human trick on the water.

I'll admit right off. I'm not a small guy. At the time of the SHT (Stupid Human Trick) I was 275ish.

We were at the lake on a company retreat. The boss had a couple of personal water craft (sea doo's i think). They said "Hey, Rob, why dont you take one of them out on the lake". I was like .. okay..

So I go down and check one of em out. Weight limit: 250. Hmmmm.. 25 lbs overweight. Naah! Wont matter. No biggy.

So I get my vest on, and get on the thing. Or, rather, I try. And try. And try.

The problem is, you mount the thing from the back. As I tried to pull myself onto it (like they showed me), I kept pulling it up out of the water and over on top of me.

I just thought it was me - and a lack of balance (I've since started riding motorcycles - and have good balance there!). So I kept at it. And kept at it. And finally - after about an hour, I'm on the thing. I motor out no-wake (not making a wake), and get out past the bouy.

WOT and I'm off across the lake. Damn fun if you ask me. Then I go for a nice sweeping long turn - except the front end digs in, I go over the front of it..

And I'm sitting in the middle of the lake of the ozarks, on a PWC that I cannot get back on to.

One of the other guys motors over on a different PWC. He's trying to hold the thing still enough for me to drag my fat *** onto.

He finally motors into shore, gets the boss (who owns the PWC's) and his boat. Comes out and rescues my butt.

Aah well and good anyway. We ended up going and getting a pontoon - which they let me drive since they were laughing at me too hard still...

My lesson here?

Never ride something in the water that weighs less than you do!!!

Re: Okay, okay.

Was it a sit down or a stand-up model?

I never drove a stand-up one, but the sit down Yamaha I rented last winter seemed pretty stable

Ok, it was mostly a joke, Realgun :)

I dont know how much it weighed .. but it kept ending over on to my head when I tried to pull myself onto it (handle on the back).

Ryan - sit down model.

I admit I was over the weight limit (by some 20-40 lbs) and seemed to be unstable (i.e. top heavy) due to that. ( I guess )

Re: Okay, okay.

If you were top heavy does that mean that Dolly Parton can't jet ski?
