I've previously posted questions on my '72 Merc 650 65hp motor....with much luck in the responses...hoping you can come through for me again! Here is what I have done and here are my issues...long, so please be patient w/me.

I have 1)rebuilt carbs 2)changed plugs 3) check compression (115 on all 3), 4) cleaned fuel lines 5) new fuel pump.

Okay, here's what I got....

1. finally got it started and it ran, but couldn't get water to come out of the pee hole using the muffs.

2. Now will not start again and after trying quite a few times, stopped cranking...heard a "click" from around the distributor, now no turning over. Battery was fully charged and fine. I had done a load test on it and it was fine. Was cranking quickly, then just stopped, clicked several times, then nothing. Now, when I put the load test on the battery, it won't hold under load...like it "shorted" the batter or something. Without the load, it shows fully charged.

So my questions involve the water "peeing" and the clicking/battery issue. Wondering if my distributor could be messed up, but don't know the symptoms of that.

Also, I did clear out all the lines for the water thingy and blew air from compressor through it to make sure it was clear.

Any and all quick fixes appreciated (smile).
