Yes you have a fuel pump. Follow the fuel line from the tank. It is vaccum operated from the cylinder. Disconnect the line from the carb and pull the start cord. Fuel should come out of the line.

Smitty

Actually, if your motor is a 1959 or older model, it WON'T have a fuel pump unless someone has put one on there already. Easiest way to check is to check the fuel fitting. If it has three prongs, then it's a pressure feed system. If it only has two, then it's a fuel pump system.

The model number should be FD-XX, where XX is a 2-digit number.

If you do have a fuel pump and the tank is hooked up properly, try stsmith's test to see if the pump is working. More than likely the carb is fouled up and will need a thorough disassembly and cleaning.

- Scott

You hafta tell us what "this motor". RD number or at least color. For example if it is burgandy it is propably a 1958 and your fuel mixture is 24 to 1. If it is white it is in the 60's and could be 24 to one , might be 50 to one.
We need an answer to the fuel line question too. Double line, definitely 24 to 1, single line with squeese bulb could be either.

If you have double lines to the fuel tank your mix is 24:1, GS.

When we have the model number we can help more.

If it's burgundy AND an 18hp, then it can ONLY be a 1957 or 1958 model year. Both years are virtually identical except for paint and trim. 24:1 ratio. Keep an eye on the lower unit oil - if it gets milky quickly (under an hour's running) then reseal it....
- Scott
