Old and new horns blow air but do not make a sound

maybe I am deaf at the frequency both horns sound.

Installed a horn last year, stopped working after one use. When I press the button, you can see the dials on my dash move around, the battery voltage drops too.

All I hear is a little popping sound from what sounds like a diaphragm from the horn.

So electricity is going to it. the fuse is also fine.

indicative of a weak battery? or something else?

if it's a weak battery thing maybe we should review my other thread.

Put a multimeter on the wiring at the horn and see what voltage you're getting when you hit the button. Also verify you have a good ground as fiberglass sucks as a grounding medium! Assuming you're getting 12+ volts, it's a bad horn or it has water intrusion. Even a low voltage (10 volts-ish) will still give you a "goose honk".

Do dogs start jumping off boats and swimming to yours when you sound the horn maybe its not a "horn" but a whistle.... Hehe... Couldnt resist...

CAPSLOCK (couldn't resist) - What horn did you put on the boat last year? If the horn draws a few amps, the horn switch may have fried. Auto horns draw a lot and a relay is used so the switch is a low power affair and the relay handles to high power. Just a thought. Also a weak ground could cause the same problem.
