Hello to all,
I just purchased a 1990 Astro Quickfire 18FS with a Mercury BlackMax 150 XR4 outboard. Mostly the boat appears to be in good condition. Putting it in the water this weekend. Had a few questions regarding the trailer. The trailer is the original Astro trailer that came with this combo boat package. The wheel bearing caps are missing and there appears to be plenty of grease packed in there. Does anyone know where I could find new caps for these wheels bearings. The wheel bearings appear to be snug with no wiggle room but I did not know if submerging it would be an issue though there is plenty of grease in there to keep the bearings from rusting...I believe.
This is my first boat and have gained a lot of knowledge from reading these posts. I have been wanting to get a boat for quite some time but life was too busy to make that decision, I thought. I've removed everything that can be easily removed to clean it. It was left outside and had a lot of dry rot on the gunwale cushions and especially the carpets. Seats just had lots of mildew on them, nothing a power washer and some cleaner could not make look new again. I have found that all of my console breakers are bad and a few switches need to be replaced. I would like to know what some of the switches control. From left to right there is the Master switch (understood), Nav/Anc (understood), Bildge (understood), Acc/Curtesy (Not understood). If anyone can tell me what this last switch does that would be awesome. As far as I know I do not have any curtesy lights, if that is what it does, but there is a stereo that needs to be replaced and might be connected to the Acc.
I look forward to posting future posts
