my dad has this old boat in his back yard that has been sitting. i evisioned a resto but want to find out what it is first. i will get pics later but the description is that its red, 90% sure its fiberglass, about 16ft in length, takes an outboard, though its not there. and most obvious was the "fins" at the rear of the boat like on the old caddys' rear quarter panel. also its not open bow but its not a cuddy so im not sure what thats called. it looks like a run a bout of sorts. thanks.

That's a way cool boat. I could see gutting the motor and just leaving the housing then dropping in a 350 chev with a jet pump and slapping a set of hydro foils under it. Would that freak some people out or what!!! Yeah, ok. I'm nuts. The boat just looks like it should have all that stuff.

yes rick thats very close, if not the same boat! his is red and looks to have potential. my brother and me talking about an outboard that would set this era and size boat off. would you rebuild a vintage motor to match the potential paint scheme or just get a nice new motor?

I had one that was an old beater like that when I was in high school (in the early 80's)... with a 1957 evinrude 35 horse on it... we called it the batboat... I ran that thing with spare parts and "backyard" "rebuilds" bandaids, rigging, etc... until everything was so loose it wouldn't run any more. Those engines were just about bulletproof... I am still amazed how the ones I mixed and matched held together - especially with the way we treated them.

btw, flat black with an orange bat on the "hood" is a good look...

Hey DJ actually yes I got the Cutter off of craigslist . The owner started out at $500.00 and I waited he dropped to $400 a couple weeks later and I waited the following week he dropped it to $350 and I sprung into action and ended up hauling it home for $300.00 . I will be going through it completely including a new paint job all of the crome is pretty much perfect . I have a thread started on it and will be updating it as I get into it . I havent done alot yet but I own a Heating and Airconditioning company and as you know its air conditioning season in Louisville :D.

Personally I would find a classic motor to match the looks of the boat . I got lucky and picked up the 60 Cutter with a 59 Merc Mark59A on it .
