Does the adhesive go in the first "ditch" most towards the helmet or the second "ditch" closer to the the transom of the rubber bellows?

Does this 1997 Gen VI back end of the u joint bellows even get adhesive at helmet connection?

Also have seen many videos, mostly Alpha drives, were DIYer, cannot get the aluminum retainer ring pushed into helmet to secure U joint bellows to helmet. What are the "tips n tricks" to what looks like a simple step?

My plan is to glue it in and not touch it and come back next day after adhesive has dried and lube the hell out of the ID of that bellow lip and then push/punch the aluminum ring in. Does this back end of the u joint bellows even get adhesive?

Ayuh,....... That end doesn't need to be glued, the ring holds it in tightly,.....
To push the ring into place, spray the bellows with Quicksilver Power Tune 1st, 'n it'll slip in by hand,.....

I am stuck with the aluminum ring not going in because its "too large" compared to resultant ID created by pulling U joint bellows in just one "groove/ditch". I feel like I need to pull bellows in further to second "ditch/groove" which was my original question. Which ditch/groove are we to use on the aft/back end of the U joint bellows? The first one, most aft, seems to create too small of an ID to receive ring.

Or I somehow dont have that first groove clinched onto helmet lip for some reason.
