I recently bought an old 1972 Chrysler Sport Valiant tri-hull, 14'9". It is in really sad shape as it sat outside uncovered for 10 years. (In Montana)
The hull is in good shape with a few nicks along the bottom of the bow from grounding, but no hole or cracks. The transom is solid with only a few cracks in the gelcoat on the inside. No cracks at all on the outside.
The deck is a disaster. It literally had small plants growing in the botton as all the fibergalss was worn off exposing almost all the wood to the elements. I cleared it all off and the deck is badly rotted and you can tell all the foam underneath is soaked.
As I removed all the wood, I find there are no stringers underneath !
Just wet foam. When I remove it, do I need to fabricate stringers? How do I attach them to the hull? And unfortunately, I have never done fiberglass before. So, a rookie to boot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am adding a few pics for anyone who may know about this boat.
