Old 1982 Evinrude 235HP Outboard motor.
When I give a full throttle the motor doesn't catch quickley. It runs at about 2500RPM's and after a couple of minutes I can hear it starting to catch. The motor will stutter for a few seconds and then catches and the motor will open. Any Advise?

Certainly sounds fuel related. I'd start by checking all fuel line connections for leaks and replace the inline fuel filter.

Failing that, I'd remove the carbs and give them a good cleaning paying special attention to the high speed jets.

Good luck.

Brew

yank em, tank em and blow em clean - overnight soak in carb cleaner then use some air and blow out the passages, get a manual and take your time, you dont want the motor loading up when you are X miles at sea with thunderheads building up - do a search on carb cleaning, the guys that know their business have posted many times on this

I didnt do a lot of carb rebuilds in my professional career as a half fast mechanic

when I did, I made notes and templates, stuck the screws in carb drawings so I knew what went where

good luck!
