Re: Old Evinrude outboard wooden crate
My buddy has a 1950-something one like that in army olive drab and shipping papers out of a depot in Oregon. 18-25 HP, never used. Extra long shaft (didn't know they made them back then). It has tools and instructions to mount and de-mount it from the box and two props. As stated above, with the box, it is worth more, but don't expect to retire on the profit from its sale.
Depending upon the phase of moon, the engine's size and condition, and the collector sentiment it could go for anywhere from 150 on up to 4-500.
If it is just the crate, you could burn it to keep warm or sell it on Ebay for a couple of bucks--whatever the traffic will bear
