Re: old evinrude...price?!
Hi Fatts,
Without seeing the motor, it's very hard to give you a price. Plus, the price I would be willing to pay is quite likely very different from someone else's price. It comes down to what YOU feel it's worth. If it's absolutely cherry and perfect in every way, it may have some good collectors value, but if it's well used, but decent, then who knows. Does it have the original dual line tank with it? Have the coils been updated? How does the lower unit oil look after a 3-hour run at the lake? Has the waterpump impeller been replaced recently (last 2-3 years or so?) All those things would factor in. It's not an uncommon motor, so a collector who wants one usually doesn't have any trouble finding one (or three!). It is a very good design, so lots have survived the years intact and many are still in regular service.
Check eBay for similar motors and note what they're going for. Your location near Lake Norman means there's likely a good market for clean, older motors that are ready to go. If it's really ready to go, slap a $250 pricetag on it and and take best offer...
Good luck!
- Scott
