I am finally installing my new motor on my 67 Larson which has a 20 inch transom. It originally had a 20 inch 67 85 hp fat 4 and i am installing a 20 inch 1989 110hp.The old motor was mounted on the transom and it seems that the motor sat really low in the water compared to newer outboards.

Is it okay just to mount the new motor in the same exact location height wise?So i don't need to drill any new holes?Or would i need to go an inch higher or ???From what i have read the cavitation plate should be an inch above the lowest part of the keel?Am i correct

Bolt the new one in place using the same holes in the transom. You should be able to slide the 110 up two inches if you use the bottom mounting holes on the outboard

There is no accurate way to know where the AV plate should be w/o testing. The AV plate should just run dry on top @ WOT when the motor height is right. The correct height is always determined empirically.
