Old Evinrudes - 35hp vs 40hp

I'm wondering if anybody's compared a '57-'59 BigTwin 35hp with a '60s 40hp.

Usually I'm fishing and more power wouldn't matter much, but a few times a year I ferry a heavy load of camping gear. The old girl ('57) doesn't like it much, even w/ a 10x12 prop.

Also, I've got a 10x17 two blade that she can't quite spin up to the proper rpm, unless there's a a good wind at my back

I think the '60 Lark is downright ugly compared to the '57 BigTwin, but I found one at the right price and might go for it if somebody says the difference is appreciable.

You won't notice much difference unless your Big Twin is really tired.

Definitely not the case (although she's pretty finicky about the high speed adjustment).
