I have 2 full tanks (14 gal) of oil/fuel mix for my 100 hp, 68 Evinrude that sat from last July till now. I think I added conditioner one time. Do you think I will have any problems running this fuel? Should I add more conditioner before useing it? I don't know what to do with it otherwise. It would take 20 years to use it up in my Lawn Boy!
Thanks,

Re: Old Fuel

Hey Jim,
I wouldn't use it in the ERude. I usually burn my old stuff in my truck with good results. Don't add the whole 14 gallons at once....maybe 7 gal per tankfull.
Backlash

Re: Old Fuel

I spent 3 months and big $ getting bad fuel out of my entire system - tank [drained], pickup [replaced], vents [cleaned], sender [cleaned], lines [replaced, all - even internal to the engine], VRO [replaced], all 6 carbs [cleaned and cleaned and cleaned again], the kicker [repeat above]...

I added a stabilizer mid winter to fuel that already had water, add some spider webs = bad news. It turned to a white jelly that hardened like silicone rubber throughout the system. Every time the shop thought they had the problem licked, more of it broke loose and caused problems. It took an OMC rep and advice from this forum to isolate the problem. see post August 28,2001 - Jellied fuel.

This was my experience - didn't save any $ by trying to use that old fuel.

good luck,

Cliff
