I have yet to do a compression check on my newly acquired 87 dt85. I can smell old gas. Is there a way to drain carbs without removing them ? Should I avoid doing a compression check until gas is removed ? I would use a jumper wire on solenoid to prevent spark/ignition. Is there an alternative to removing and cleaning carbs ? ( I doubt it ). Thanks

Re: Old gas removal

Getting my hands on a older motor I do not know much about, I would pull the carbs and clean them, pull the thermostat and replace or at least test and inspect the passages while I had it out, pull and replace the water pump. Fresh clean fuel will always be good for a motor
