Re: Old gas sediment in old tank

The diaphragms for the low profile tanks are the same and not like mine. I am going to do a dry assembly today and assume there is enough stretch in the diaphragm to not force me to make a cut in the material. There will definitely be a 1/4 bulge where the second large hole should be. if it doesn't look like it will work I can try to drill the material with a forstner drill bit without tearing the diaphragm.

I have checked everywhere and no one has or knows about the change in design. Not all sources can be wrong and since there is no sierra counterpart everyone is using the original part number. I guess I have to assume that OMC issued a service bulletin at some point in the last 50 years and said go ahead and use the same part for all applications. Just stretch the diaphragm over the protrusion and don't worry about it. i am just surprised that nobody on this site has encountered the problem to date.

I apologize for this being so lengthy but the inconsistencies between what I see, what I read in the service manual, and what ALL the parts guys tell me was bothersome.
