Re: Old Johnson Restore

Maybe there is an answer for my question out there. I just finished rebuilding the starter and it works good if the spark plugs are out and the holes are open. The unit turns over great. If I leave the plugs in the head it will not turn over? Has anyone good an answer? thank you cjtaylor:confused:

Are the plugs contacting the piston tops? If so, may be the wrong plugs.

Make sure your battery is strong. I had the exact same symptoms with a weak battery...turned only with the plugs out!

Re: Old Johnson Restore

It been awhile since I talked about this motor, been working the boat. But it is time to mate up the boat and motor. Problem whe I tried to turnover the motor it would not? It would move just not make a full roltation. I took remove the head and all covers from the power head and oiled the crank and pistons. At this point the engine would turnover freely. I replaced most everthing but the head waiting on the gasket. The motor still is free and turns over. Can anyone help me with what was the cause? Thank you:redface:
