very nice boat! if i were you, i'd keep it...

to contact ArisoCraft. Ya might try posting over on the AristoCraft forum here on iboats. Scott comes by there and contributes to the forum. Scott is the grandson of Claud. Claud invented AristoCraft. Bill is Scotts dad. I've talked with both (Scott and Bill) via the phone number on their web site. I've also got tech support and parts from them. Best I know, they are still active. Keep trying.

ps. i've also had contact with AristoCraft via the US Mail in the past too. maybe send them a letter?

I believe you have a Typhoon. Here's an Ebay ad, scroll down. Classic Wooden Boat Aristo Craft Typhoon 12' | eBay

It'll be interesting to see what that one sells for. In general old boats aren't really worth all that much because there's just not a lot of demand for them, nothing like classic cars. But, with that being said, I do hope you restore your boat back to it's original glory, I love the looks of it.

Aristocraft did respond to my email. They believe it is a 53 Typhoon 12 footer just from reviewing the pics. It floated fine the last time it was used, but has been garaged since 69. Based on other info given by Aristocraft I now at least have a value to consider. It will obviously need some attention to run the engine again after sitting so long, but the boat itself is good. Aristocraft didn't actually make an offer, but stated they may be interested in buying to restore and place in their museum... Pretty cool!

I thought that might happen. Your not going to find many of these that have been garage kept and in that good of condition and mainly all original. Its basically untouched. Congrats.

All that said, the boat will be up for sale soon. I would like to know it goes in a museum, but $ talks lol. If you have genuine interest in buying as is, please PM an offer.

The company has deeper pockets than I do and can get the parts needed a lot less expensive too. I simply wanted a project and a keeper for my grandsons. I'm sure they will give you a good offer that cannot be beat.

Would be willing to sell for $3500. That is what Aristocraft said it is worth as is, but they don't want to make an offer at this time even though they stated they would like to see it in their museum. I guess I could donate it to the cause, but the $ would be better for me right now. If anyone is interested please contact me directly with a private message.

Thanks to everyone who gave info and contributed to the thread!

Yours is a beautiful boat and I hope you get what you want. But the fact is that the classic boat market is very soft right now. Look at the E-Bay prices and do a search for ACTUAL sale prices, not what they wanted.

There is one online right now and it's current price is $2300. See what it sells for.

My Lyman was appraised at $10K in 2007. I have over $5k into her. One sold on Ebay a few weeks ago for $3400.

Also note that Aristocraft went out of business eons ago. The current company merely bought the name and they are selling reproductions.

If they are willing to take it for their museum and certify the donation value high enough, the tax deduction might get you further ahead.

If it were me I would keep it as a family heirloom. They aren't making classics anymore and you'll probably never find another in that good a condition. I know mine will go to my Grandchildren for them to enjoy many years into the future...

Thanks for the info Jim. I certainly know nothing about the market so I appreciate the feedback. I am willing to consider all offers.

You are stepping over the line about selling in the forum. This has degraded from wanting to know about the boat is to selling it openly. Soliciting and selling is forbidden in the forums. You can place an ad and sell the boat for a fee on iboats, look at the Boats for sell link at the top of the page.

My mistake. I will create an ad in the classifieds.
