i have a martin 60 ; it must be 6hp; how old is it ;when were they last made

I believe the last year for the 60 was 1950.rated at 7.2 hp.
47 was the first year beginning number 20,000,48, 69,000,49, 93734, 50, C96,000.Had a good reputation.Uses mechanically controlled poppet valves
for smooth powerful performance.

this one still runs but gas drips out here and there! thanks for the info

I also have a Martin "60" EAU Claire Wis., model #C70579. I would like to find out what year it was made and where to get an owner's manual or any literature on it.

1948. Russ Larson at www.martinoutboards.com is THE guru and parts source for Martins. Nobody else even comes close.

Poppet valves on the martin are basically what you find in a 4 stroke motor but on the martin they are in the intake only in place of reed valves.
They are mechanically operated.There are poppet valves that open by atmospheric pressure.
