Weirdness. I posted a while back I needed to find a coil for my Ted Williams. ScottGuy sold me coils. BUT...

Low hour (less than 20) '69 Sears Ted Williams, mfd by Scott/McC. Model #: 574-60760, S/N: 700355R12-1554

Motor starts, runs/idles (well) on 1 cyl (top). We can pull bottom plug while running, no change. Coil appears good. Swapped condensors, swapped plugs (all look good). Top cyl runs, bottom doesn't.

Bad wire? We have spark (good spark) on bottom plug! Plug gets wet with gas when it is in the motor. (We took the plug out, tested for spark, and knew there was plenty of gas when 1 pull started a fireball outside the motor! Good vaporization even!)

Used our finger to check compression thinking bad rings, but it pulls just as well as the top does!

So, we have what we believe are good coils, good points, good condensors, good plugs, wires are iffy, but I wrapped them in tape, gas is being delivered, seem to have compression, but the bottom cyl does not fire!

Gas/Oil putts out the exhaust, no power, rough run, etc... It was running well (8 years ago), then started running rough, then died. Took it to a boat shop, they told me it was a bad coil, dumped it in the barn when I couldn't get parts. Recently ressurected, but I can't get it to run.

Now I did NOT change the two coils. The two in there look like they're in great shape, and seem to be delivering spark to both plugs. The "new" coils didn't have wires attached, and we didn't feel comfortable yanking out the ones in the old coils. (Can I use any spark plug wires cut down?)

Is it possible there isn't 'enough' spark? Or maybe as I throttle up, the wire flexes and I loose spark? Ack! (And it hurts like heck to pull the plug wires off while the motor is running! Yes, the bottom one!)
