Re: Old Outboard Motor

Looking at pauls pic's and my motor the cast flywheel on top looks just like the 1914 pic. My motor has 4 holes in the wheel and the word "Evinrude" embossed just like that picture. The reason I believed it was 1909 was the article I have from an old 1964 readers digest with a side by side pic of this motor with a (at that time) new 40 HP Evinrude Lark motor. It was a sales pitch of the then and now with the caption "Throw away the oars!" All this info you all are sharing with me is sure helping me get close to my motor, thanks! If I where to try and shine up the brass a little what would be the best and safest cleaner???

Topics don't close here on iboats. They just lay there till someone else has something to add to it.
