Hello All:
I have two cases of Quick Silver 50-D in 16 OZ. cans that are 21 years old. My out boards are that old too. Should I use the oil or chuck it and buy new?
Thanks Ed

Hi Ed
I am no oil expert. But if the cans are in good shape I would probably run it. If I had any doubts I would just use it up around the shop. Of corse if the stuff proved to be nasty then recycle it.

I would use it mixed with the newer stuff..... Heck, I bet you can even sell that old oil on Ebay..... Some guys love that old antique stuff... BushCat

'Mornin' Ed B,

there are a couple of guys around here that REALLY know oil. I hope that they see your post. they can give Good informed advise on your oil.

if these guys arn't around today, and they miss an oppertunity to reply, well then, i would just E-bay the stuff. there really are folks who are "collector crazy" for old oil. i'm pretty certain that you wold get enough for it toreplace it with newer stuff.

i don't think that there is anything wrong with your old oil. just the new stuff is better.otherwise they'd still be making the old stuff.

Good Luck
HAVE FUN!

Ed, I too have come across the old 50-D in cans....if unopened, and used as PREMIX ONLY it will serve you fine.
