Old Sea Horse 35 hp, Where is model number

I put an ad on craigslist looking for a used Evinrude control box. And a nice fellow replied that he had an old 2 lever control box I could have for free, then later said i could have the cables and the motor as he would like to see someone get some use out of it. So I have this old motor, with everything intact. It has electric and pull start and lots of old before my time controls on the front. The steering was still intact on the boat, and utilized cables and pulleys as there was no steering arm. I'll post pics later today, had shoulder surgery and tired of sitting around, docs says no flexing the bicep for 6 weeks. 6 WEEKS! :facepalm: Where do I begin to look for a year and model number?

There should be a tag on the transome mount somewhere with a serial/model number on it. If you can't find that try posting some pics of it. A lot of smart people on here chances are someone can narrow it down pretty good on sight.

Look under the front of the mtr on top of the stern bracket. You might find a plate there.

Yep, the old 35hp Johny's will put the model number there. If by chance that some one removed it, post a pic and we can help determine the year

+1. If it's in good running condition, you might get $300-$500. However, you can get it running yourself for about $150 and have a cool, big 'ol motor on your boat. I had a '66 33 hp that was a great motor. Here are some handy links.
