I bought this Sears engine and don't know the year or make. Can somebody please help me?<br />The numbers off of it are top # 60920<br /> bottom # 116824B<br /> Thanks!
There is usually a prefix like 571 or 574 or 582 among others. If 582 it would be a 66 Clinton built 3.5.If it is a Clinton it will be aircooled with fins on the cylinder and vanes on the flywheel covered by a shroud something like a lawnmower motor.Clinton has been out of business for some time. You might try this number for parts.563-652-2411.<br /> I wouldn't put too much time or money into it<br />unless you have some sort of special attachment to it.
Ok maybe a detailed description, color, shape, metal, plastic or fiberglass hood, built in tank or remote tank, number of cylinders,Make of carburater style of recoil starter, anything you can think of.
Color: White (if orig.)<br />Hood: Plastic w/ SEARS on it<br />Carb: Tillotson<br />Tank: Remote<br />It has a recoil starter. The piece that the carb is mounted to has the #0410. On the front in the middle it has 2 red knobs, They adjust the fuel mixture for #1 Slow Speed & #2 Fast Speed. Above them is the engine speed control that slides left to right. Below them is the choke lever. The plug that is in it is a Champion J8C, whether that is the correct one or not I do not know. Single cylinder. It is kind square looking. The steering arm is chrome and wraps around the motor. Turn around for R. I hope this helps?!
I was on ebay and seen a manual for a Ted Williams 7.5hp motor. It looks similar to it. I just found another #. Up under the starter I found #701216. Under tne starter cover I found this # 900-0409-00. I hope this helps!
Ok I know this is an old post but I have seen a lot of these and everybody always asks the poster for the 3 number prefix. These motors do not have one on the id tag but all of them are 582 if it's a 3.5 sears. If you look here you'll see all prefixes are the same http://www.discount-marine-parts.com/ob_sears_clinton.html I have seen these motors refered to as a j6 1103 clinton but I don't know if that's correct. But they are clinton built.
I have a 1984 Sears Gamefisher 15hp 2cyl outboard motor. I have just noticed a small water leak just under the upper spark plug. This is the first time I have had this problem, (just installed new water pump and surrounding parts and water flow is great). Any ideas??? My guess is a cracked head gasket.... as there is a thin black line around the plug socket between the block and head.
HELP!!! Where can I get a gasket kit for this one??? The Sears Model # is 217.586352 or 353 which indicates an ESKA manufacturer. On the Discount Marine Parts site it states all ESKA outboard engine's were made by Tecumseh.
They have been sold as of Dec. last year.
It appears the motor has a cylinder head cover and gasket.I don't believe there is a head.Certified parts corp may have parts, Discount marine is another possible source.Or you could make your own gasket. If its a drip I woyld be inclined to let it gr you may be able to pull the plug and seal it with something.
