Old steel gas tank advice needed; epxoxy?

In restoring my old (1983) boat I've drained and removed the steel gas tank. On the outside it appears to be in great condition with only a few very minor rust spots and doesn't appear to be leaking.
I was thinking of giving it a good cleaning and coating it with Gluvit. According to their info, Gluvit is not gasoline resistant and they don't recommend it for inside the tank but do recommend it for the outside of an aluminum tank. They also say it can be used to protect steel.
So,...should I use the Gluvit on the outside of this tank or not?
Should I use an epoxy advertised as gasoline resistant instead?
Since I have the tank out should I consider epoxy treating the inside of the tank?

you can get a tank coating kit at just about any motorcycle dealer for the inside and you can use epoxy or gluvit on the outside but you might also consider jb weld on the leaks first for the exterior
