Re: old sunbrella
I have a jacket I wear for fishing (stream) and hunting where I often get miles away from other people and it has enough pockets to hold everything I'd need to survive for a few days.
Also use it during the rest of the year. Anyway two years ago it no longer repelled water so I used a whole can of a KIWI product called CAMP DRY (12 oz) which has 13% Silicone and says its good on all breathable materials. I read this post a hour ago and poured a few drops of water on the shoulder of the jacket and after two years and a hour later the water is still beaded and not soaking in.
Before using Scotch Gaurd, Camp Dry or any other product you choose there is another product you might want to use first.
It's called Stitch Gaurd and you use it on all of the sewn seams first. It seals up all the needle holes by following the thread. Then spray the canvas afterwards.
It can be found at all shoe repair shops and mabe even fred meyers or K Mart.
Sun Brella is the only canvas we use.
