Just bought a 1979 tri haul bass boat it has a attwood aerator near drain hole with two wires coming out of it. One brown and one black. There is a two prong aerator switch near the steering wheel with a white wire going from one prong to an old style fuse box (there are no wires leaving the fuse box just single wires from switches going to each fuse). Then from the other prong there is a wire going back towards the aerator. Can someone please tell me how to hook the wires up so the switch will turn the aerator on and off?

Welcome to iboats!:welcome:

If there is no wire (8 or 10 gauge) from the fuse block to the battery + terminal, you don't have power to anything connected to the fuse block. The black wire from the pump needs to eventually get to the battery - terminal, usually via a bus bar, also comnnected to the battery with an 8 or 10 gauge wire.

the wire starts at the fuse block then goes to the back of the boat laying unconnected near the battery. I want to start over can you tell me which wires from the aerator go to the battery and which go to the switch then to the fuse box. Our just however I should do it?

The black wire on the aerator goes the the battery negative the brown goes to one side of the switch, and the other side of the switch goes to a fuse and then to the positive side of the battery.

It is very rare that any one un hooks a working device so more than likely its bad.

Here is a diagram that might help. You don't have to use the auto pump swith if you don't want.
View attachment Bulge Pump Wires.pdf
It will print on a 8.5X11 paper real nice.

From your description, you don't have power to the fuse block, so nothing wired to it will work, including the bilge pump.
